Ghaliah Conroy (1996) is an Irish/French Guianese dance maker and performer. Coming from a four year study in Dance and Choreography Ghaliah has a multi-disciplinary approach when it comes to performing, creating and working in the arts. This comes from having a diverse background in multiple disciplines working as a singer, actor, dancer and maker for some years before studying. As a result she has equal appreciation, respect and curiosity in to these different environments and is greatly interested in connecting them.

Ghaliah has a unique perspective, being of mixed cultures and backgrounds and she is very much interested in issues such as race and gender when it comes to her work and she is fascinated about the topic of identity. Growing up as a minority and having to deal with ignorance and barriers in the art world has greatly influenced her reasons for making. She hopes for her work to leave an impact on people, whether that is seeing something new or leaving having learnt something new.

Ghaliah reacts to the exhibition 'In The Garden Of Doubt And Panic' by Sylvie Zijlmans & Hewald Jongenelis. The performance is on Sunday, May 28 at 3.30 pm.

Cooperation with DansBrabant.
