The celebratory presentation of the new book Ton Slits - Geheel en al 1984-2024 will take place on Thursday 12 December at 8pm at PARK.
Ton Slits was educated as a drawing teacher at the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming in Tilburg and continued his studies at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht from 1977 to 1979. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally; at PARK, his work was shown during the group exhibition Question Mark (see photo of the build-up).
In the publication Ton Slits - Geheel en al 1984-2024, the artist reflects for the first time on his multifaceted artistry and personal life of the past forty years. His daily practice in the studio always seems to start anew from nothing - an illusion, as every creative act is steeped in previously acquired insights and experiences.
Authors Peter Pluymen, Arno Kramer, Vera Hilger, Frank-Thorsten Moll and Rick Vercauteren each illuminate Slits' life and work during this period from their own perspective. The book, measuring 212 pages in Dutch and German, is designed in an original way by Marc van den Eynden (NL) and is edited by Rick Vercauteren (NL).
