RUBEN BELLINKX - NO OBSTACLE NO IMAGE

documentary by Isabelle Makay

An ethnographic study of an artist
Visual anthropologist Isabelle Makay follows Ruben Bellinkx on camera for three years during the making of his video installation The Trophy. She approaches the artist like an animal by closely mapping his behaviour. What does the artist do? What reflections and choices does he make? How does he focus on details, materials and technical problems? In short, what does the artist see, smell, feel and hear while achieving his goal?

Ruben Bellinkx wants to portray a trophy of a stuffed deer's head-not with a dead but with a living deer.... How the artist struggles in his daily life to realise the image he has in mind is the subject of this documentary.

Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to talk to Ruben Bellinkx and Isabelle Makay.
Length 62 minutes, language Dutch.
The two-channel video installation The Trophy can be seen on the upper floor of PARK.
