JAVIER VILLEGAS

KOMMA #57 - music, saxophone
06.06 2026

Javier Villegas (2001) is a Spanish saxophonist, composer, and sound engineer who, through his various projects (in both classical and “light” music), seeks to redefine what it means to be a classical musician today. He studied at the Fontys Academy of the Arts and lives in Tilburg.

Through his music, Villegas is always experimenting with new ideas and possibilities. He is constantly searching for new sounds and ways to process and sample the sounds around him. In this way, he has developed an interdisciplinary approach to his musical practice and regularly collaborates with other disciplines, such as dancers and choreographers. His music is complex, delicate, and full of subtle details, with the saxophone always playing a role in one way or another. Villegas is a versatile artist who seeks out music wherever he goes, because, as he puts it, “music is everywhere, and as a musician, the goal is not to make music, but to find it.”

Javier Villegas responds to the exhibition Wise Up. The performance will take place on Saturday 6 June at 3.30pm.
