FRANS VAN DER MEER & LAURA DAS

FRANS VAN DER MEER & LAURA DAS

KOMMA #39 - music/dance
02.11 2024

After completing the required courses such as art academy and conservatory, Frans van der Meer (1965) decided to become self-taught. He became skilled in traditional puppetry, known as the mother of all art forms. He is the spiritual father of the puppet Ferry van de Zaande and had national success with the songs Doe mennene Mexicano and Schôôn Waoge. Van der Meer is a multi-talent, in addition to being a puppeteer, he is also a musician, singer, visual artist, lyricist, presentor and composer.

After many wanderings, he finally met the charming Laura Das, with whom a professional collaboration naturally developed. Das is a dancer and photographer. After a dramatic period, she found herself again thanks to photography. She knows how to win over the viewer in a very idiosyncratic and titillating way with her autobiographical, narrative images.

Frans and Laura react to the exhibition Parsing by Jan van den Dobbelsteen en Arash Fakhim. The performance is on Saturday, November 2 at 3.30 pm.
