Chilton Galimo (1993) is a Hiphop dancer and choreographer. Born in Surinam, Chilton has lived most of his life in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Here he started training dance at the age of 16 and has been very active in the Dutch dance scene until the COVID-pandemic. He has competed in different battles and has been competing, coaching and choreographing for different crews. Two of the most prominent being, D-Crew Dance Crew and The Fire. After traveling the Netherlands and the world for dance; competing in international battles and competitions and judging in both national and international competitions, he shifted his focus back to his hometown of Tilburg in 2020.
Here, he now focuses on creating opportunities within and from his city as a community builder and pioneer for the local Hip Hop scene. Through the opportunities he and his community uncover he is able to provide talent development and work opportunities for his local community. This gives a boost and in time, he hopes this will have a positive impact on the Dutch national scene and possibly the international scene in time.
Regarding his artistry, he is most proficient in Hip Hop techniques, although he has trained other street- and clubstyles throughout his life. He likes to spend time in both freestyle and choreography as he believes that these two dimensions empower each other. Regarding choreography, he likes to both work within styles or to step out and mix techniques from different styles to fit his own artistic vision on creating choreography. When it comes down to freestyle, he believes this is where freedom of movement and self-expression can be found. He gains a lot of his technique from freestyle practice, exploring and jamming and likes to mix a hard disciplined work ethic in training with the fun and social side of party dances and clubculture.
