PARK-AVOND NOAH ARENDS, ANNI MERTENS, EMIEL ZENO

artist talk
07.12 2022

On Wednesday 7 December, PARK organises an evening around the exhibition 'Promising II'. Linda Köke will talk to participating artists Noah Arends, Anni Mertens and Emiel Zeno. Besides the central question of what the Apprentice Master project has meant to them, individual works in the exhibition will be discussed.

Noah Arends makes sculptures and paintings of textiles, using collage techniques and images from fashion photography. She is concerned with the interplay between the two- and three-dimensional and the natural and the artificial in the world.
Anni Mertens works mainly with ceramics, steel, found objects and with a healthy dose of humour. From an intuitive way of working and playing with material, size and colour, individual sculptures are produced. Once grouped together, they form a theatre of the absurd.
Emiel Zeno makes use of residual material. What was already there and what does the he add? What is beautiful, what is ugly? When is something art and when is it waste? He extracts information from, for instance, instructional videos and traffic infrastructure. Emiel Zeno knows how to confuse you quite a bit, but therefore also captivate you.

You are most welcome.
