In the solo exhibition Op een haar na (By a hair), Ruben Bellinkx (1975) presents his three most recent films, including Black Sun, an intriguing installation consisting of two 16mm films in which birds and drones perform a choreography above a double bed. These films are being shown in the Netherlands for the first time.
He also showcases his film Double Bind, in which three workmen gradually merge into the structure of a mobile scaffold. This film is exceptionally projected on a 35mm projector, providing a magical experience. For this exhibition at PARK, Bellinkx developed a unique scenography, allowing visitors to discover his films through a carefully designed route.
Additionally, he presents a series of new autonomous drawings and a special lithographic PARK edition.
In his work, Bellinkx brings together various elements that disrupt the most simple and everyday reality. What initially appears familiar gradually becomes elusive. The calm atmosphere of his images conceals deeper questions about the relationships between humans, animals, and objects. It is not so much about creating a confusing view of reality but rather about exposing unequal relationships and mechanisms of conditioning and domestication. As a result, simple, everyday situations suddenly gain a surprising new meaning.
The exhibition will be opened on Saturday, November 23, at 4pm by Eelco van der Lingen, director of the Mondriaan Fund. You are cordially invited.
On this day, PARK is open from 3pm.
During exhibitions, PARK is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.
